ALOHA, BONJOUR, HALLO.. G’DAY READERS!
My name is Lauren and after receiving many Facebook messages, emails &
questions over the last two years I thought making a travel blog might be useful for y’all to keep up with my travels & hand down some info I think will be useful!
This blog is mainly aimed at those 20something’s that want a little more than just a gap year!
You’ve finished high school and thinking what next.. University, College, save up for a house, travel?
The options are endless! I, like most people after school wanted to get my career started, so straight away I got into my Makeup and Special Effects Diploma, thinking “I’ll do this, then I’ll do the whole Europe backpacker thing then I’ll get my career going”.
It’s crazy how one trip can change your life!
The common misconception of travel is that you have to have a whole heap of money or that travelling the world is way to out of your reach! The truth is, if you think it’s not possible then it won’t be! It’s all about priorities!
My friend Nora, who I met in Europe, recently taught me on a trip to Miami that we don’t question how people buy fancy cars, or put down a deposit for a house or pay for an education.. So why should be questioned on what we are doing with our life.. Travelling!
Everyone just prioritises things differently! And if you think you “can’t save” or “can’t do it”, “I’m afraid to fail” and other excuses for being average, that’s your own little bubble in your head thinking what society has told us to do!
“Finish school, study, buy a house, get married”.
Your thoughts & imaginations are the only real limits to what is possible!
I travel because it’s the one thing I can always count on to be thankful that I’m alive. Along with love & the people I hold close to my heart. It’s the moments that take your breath away that make you truley appreciate living.
If we were meant to stay in the same place, we’d have roots not feet
One thing I urge each & everyone of you gypsies to do is to please be a traveller, not a tourist!
Try new things, meet new people, and look beyond what’s right in front of you. Those are the keys to understanding this amazing world that we live in. Emerge yourself completely in the culture, put down the map, use a backpack not a suitcase, stay in an unpopulated area, chat to the person next to you on the bus, take a photo for memory’s sake not just for your next Facebook profile pic.. See what beyond what is in front of you & be present in every moment!
